Let’s Draw Sherlock Alternative Professions - Professional Swimmers!
Inspired by this funny thing that happened at the 2012 Olympics where the signs were covering their crotches and made it look like they weren’t wearing anything hehe.
Fanfic Friday! This Week: More AUs
Summary: John Watson leads multiple lives as multiple variations of himself. He’s just learned to balance three lives in England with a tour in Afghanistan when in one of his London lives, he meets consulting detective Sherlock Holmes.
Why You Should Read It: Wow. This is such a striking concept, and the author handles it with amazing finesse! Johns multiple lives provide an interesting balance to each other, and John this is such a neat way to think about the first season, I can’t even tell you …
Summary: In a world where people have only four of five senses, John learns to balance being an aphone (unable to speak) with Sherlock’s aception (unable to register most kinds of touch). It will take some time to work out a reliable means of communication to work together on cases - or to be in a relationship with one another. The presence of rivals/clients/distractions such as Irene Adler, Henry Knight, and eventually Jim Moriarty doesn’t always help, either.
Why You Should Read It: The world-building, the formatting extras, and the vocabulary of this series combine to make it one of the most spell-binding fics I’ve read in a while, even though it might take a bit longer to read than usual! My only complaint? The series isn’t finished yet!
Summary: Sherlock can easily imagine that this crime scene - murdered executive Mike Stamford, dead from blunt force trauma to the head - would be utterly uninteresting if not for the new acquaintance that also comes with it: John Watson, former army doctor and current Preferred Escort. Surprisingly, John only gets more interesting with time - he accepts Sherlock’s orientation and his messy flat without comment, and Sherlock can easily imagine spending the rest of his life this way - if not for the mysterious intervention of one of John’s new clients, a man only known as RB.
Why You Should Read It: Ok, fine, I admit that it was the title that initially caught my eye, but this fic really surprised me with its completely unique approach. I don’t think I have ever read a prostitute AU as interesting and honest as this one, and really, the only thing I have to complain about is that there isn’t more!
Summary: Sherlock is a ballet dancer, and John, though originally classically trained, now dances swing. There should be no reason for the two of them to dance together, even if Sherlock has trouble retaining a partner and even if John’s partner has just been injured - but as slim as that chance had been, others are slimmer still.
Why You Should Read It: Wow - this fic is a lovely take on John and Sherlock getting to know each other, and their different dance styles suit them so well! In addition, the technical vocabulary is well-incorporated without being confusing, and the explanation for why they dance together makes a lot of sense. It might have been nice to see a little more development at some points - their arguments seem very sudden, for example - but overall this is a fascinating and well-crafted AU!!!
Summary: All right, this probably wasn’t what his therapist had in mind when she said that John needed to get out more. But John is slowly going out of his mind alone in that bedsit, and he doesn’t think that one night of company is too much to ask
Why You Should Read It: It’s actually surprisingly easy to imagine Sherlock’s excuses here (undercover, no one but you), and I really love the way that John finally confronts him.
Fanfic Friday! This Week: More Post-Reichenbach
Summary: John needs to find some means of coping after Sherlock’s death, and he finds it in Sherlock’s books. As it turns out, not only did Sherlock read books in every discipline, but he also left his characteristic notes throughout each of his books - and although John is sad this is all he has left, it’s still better than nothing.
Why You Should Read It: An absolutely gorgeous (yes, that description can be applied here!) way for John to try and keep his connection with Sherlock alive…
Summary: John finds an unknown piece of code in his head after Sherlock’s fall, but when he manages to access it, it’s not a trap. In fact, it turns out that Sherlock wrote this program just for him, to serve seems to an apology and a gift, and John finds it adequate in both respects - more than adequate, in fact.
Why You Should Read It: Angst angst angst in a fantastic AU cyber-setting… Even though the background and the pursuers are not fully fleshed out and the plot seems a little too accelerated, the concept itself is just, wow…
Summary: If only he had been more thoughtful, less selfish, sherlock knows he could have done this differently, made their first time something to remember rather than something that John would probably want to forget…
Why You Should Read It: And here I thought that I’d seen all the ways that a post-Reichenbach fic can hurt… Well. The timing of this fic alone could make you cry, but add to that Sherlock’s heartbreaking fears and regrets and knowledge about what’s going to happen and ugh… You might end up sniffling. Just a bit. Or sobbing. Quite a lot.
Summary: Sherlock left London knowing the names of three snipers, three men whose deaths must be organized and executed if he is ever to return to London. Something goes wrong, though, something that even Sherlock himself can’t identify, and the detective ends up making one frantic phone call that could change everything…
Why You Should Read It: No few-sentence summary or rec categorization will prepare you for this fic. I didn’t even know where to put it - med!fic? Kink? Focus on Sherlock? In the end I’ll leave it here…
This fic is dark, gritty, complex and compelling - it’s an amazing read with fantastic characterization, story, descriptions, and dialogue, but please check the trigger warnings too!
Summary: Sherlock hasn’t cut his hair at all during his time away, but that’s just one of the things that John notices the day he finds his friend back at Baker Street.
Why You Should Read It: It may be short, but it also offers a unique premise…
Summary: Irony of ironies - Mycroft pulls John aside to explain Sherlock’s survival and the reasons he jumped after Mrs. Hudson is taken to the hospital, ill with no hope of recovery. When Sherlock himself does return on the next plane into Heathrow, he finds that the three people he jumped to save have only been hurt - Mrs. Hudson is dying, John is distant, and Greg Lestrade is furious. Things only worsen: John won’t let him back to 221b and Harry’s new girlfriend Mary Morstan is kidnapped, and Sherlock is left struggling with a once-familiar world and a once-beloved job that have gone all askew with emotion…
Why You Should Read It: This series is all about the unexpected. Just as you think you know where the story is a going - a miraculous recovery, relationship, or rescue - chances are that you’ll find you were mistaken. In addition, each of the three installments in the series is a completely different though related story. Whoah…
Burn for you
Another nsfw paintchat with my babe andreannaness!! <33333
Thanks for the french check, makomolly! <3
My heart is weeping.
Friend? Colleague? Lover?
No endearments can pull off the sweet nectar on the tip of Sherlock’s tongue that constantly slips out that is John.
For my tjlc buds
johhnwattson asked me if I could draw Sherlock using John’s laptop on his lap.
This one is actually very bad. But it’s 2h30 am so I might fix everything tomorrow.
I’m really sorry >_<
Yay! This is brilliant! I wasn’t expecting it so quickly!
